Ramon, thank you for a very interesting blog post on my husband's business - I just came across this post while I was trying to search for the case study myself. I thought I could clarify one aspect of you concern which I believe was the negative cash balance... due to the industry standard of independent artists who are mostly unknowns, a portion of the warehouse inventory is sold on a consignment basis which helps minimize the risk of using cash up front for music that he is not sure will sell. Not sure if this is why that particular number would be skewed - he technically does not pay for this product until it actually sells. He continues this practice for cash flow purposes, but also for philosophic purposes as well - he likes being a conduit for the underdog artists who really don't have many professional/legitimate options for getting their music listened too/sold.
You will also be happy to hear that he has hired a temporary programmer to assist him with bettering the functionality of the site :) It only took me 10 year of nagging, but he finally got around to it lol

Thank you for your unique view on this topic - I wish you much health and success in your own endeavors as well!
